As a parent, it can be overwhelming when  your child is struggling, but you don’t know why or how to help.

Symptoms like attention problems, anxiety and sleep problems, bad behaviour, and falling behind at school could be worsened or even caused by auditory—or listening—difficulties.

As a teacher, it's frustrating when a student doesn't seem to listen, disrupts the class, or is unable to follow instructions. The gap compared to other students keeps growing no matter how hard you work to help them. Maybe you have tried several interventions but the gap doesn't close quickly enough for the student to catch up with their peers.

What is Auditory Processing?
An easy way to understand auditory processing problems is to think of it as a sort of dyslexia of hearing.

In the same way someone with dyslexia can have good vision, a person with auditory processing or listening difficulties can have perfectly good hearing. The problem is not the quality or clarity of the sound – it’s the way the brain interprets the information that causes problems.

Auditory Processing is a growing problem!

Auditory processing problems produce similar and overlapping symptoms to conditions like dyslexia, ASD, ADD, ADHD, and even psychological or physical illnesses. If the root cause is auditory processing, the real problem is often misdiagnosed and not dealt with effectively.

Parents, teachers and other professionals such as occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, coaches, nurses and psychologists look for help with this growing problem.

How is Tomatis® different?

There are many interventions that can help reduce
symptoms of auditory processing problems.  Extra tuition, various therapies, and remote hearing aids for example. It easily costs thousands of dollars year after year.

The Tomatis® Method works in a different way.

Tomatis® focuses on the root cause by using advanced auditory stimulation with beautiful music to improve auditory skills directly and naturally.  It's a one time investment with permanent results—saving money and time.

Maria Moell Lundqvist is a Tomatis® Senior Consultant one of only 9 Tomatis® International Trainers world-wide.

Maria took the Tomatis® Method to Sweden and Scandinavia in 1998 and is doing the same in New Zealand since 2012. She has already trained more than 30 Tomatis® Practitioners and 10 schools to use the method for their students.

Maria is based in Auckland and travels regularly to other parts of the country to teach and mentor. She also receives private clients in her Parnell office.

My goal is to train 500 education professionals in the Tomatis® Method in the coming 5 years to be able to help 50,000 children and adults to happier and more successful lives every year.

More about the Tomatis® Method

The Tomatis® Method was developed by the French ear-nose-throat specialist, Dr Alfred A. Tomatis (1920–2001). It is  based on his research and clinical work for more than 60 years. His inventions include the Tomatis® Electronic Ear  and the Tomatis® Listening Test.

Tomatis® is a structured and well-defined auditory stimulation method that uses classical music—mainly Mozart and Gregorian Chant—and the human voice to re-train and re-activate neural pathways via bone and air transmitted sound. The unique Gating® function in the Tomatis® Method ensures that the results are permanent. There is no need for "top-ups".

A Tomatis® programme is natural, non-invasive, drug free, and joyful. There are no tedious exercises to do. Tomatis® is designed to improve existing abilities and overcome listening-related problems. It works for both adults and children, and has many application areas from getting a more beautiful singing voice to improving sports, succeeding at school and to just feel... happier. Tomatis® is unique.
In New Zealand, Tomatis® has been featured in...

We can help

Our goal is to make it easier for parents and teachers to raise children that thrive, love to learn, have friends and grow into  happy, caring and responsible adults. Children who feel good about themselves and their future.

And to help adults to finally understand and do something about what could be stopping them from succeeding at work and in relationships: The skill of listening.
